With Mother’s Day around the corner, I’m sure you want to surprise your mom with a Mother’s Day gift that is both thoughtful and something that she would actually want. Though I’ve never needed anything from my family to feel loved all year round, it never hurts to receive a special gift during the day dedicated to me and all the moms around the world! Here are some simple gift ideas that I know I would love and I know other moms would love as well!

Arts and Crafts

I currently have a toddler and a preschooler, so of course my favorite Mother’s Day gifts from my children are their artwork! I keep each one and can’t wait to see how their art changes as they get older. With children this young, someone in the family *cough cough dads or other caregivers* will need to prompt your children to make something for mom. Or, if you are in a situation where your children are not in school yet and there is no significant other in the picture, there’s no shame in setting up a simple art project to do together and keep it as your Mother’s Day gift that year! I suggest anything with a hand print or foot print so that you can have memorabilia that documents how small your littles were at that point.

A New Scent

My comfy mom uniform usually consists of a plain t-shirt, sweats or leggings. So, as you can see, my everyday is not fancy. Sometimes having a new scent elevates you and makes you feel fancier on the days you may need a pick-me-up. Other than lifting your mom’s spirit with a new scent, she will think of you whenever she wears it! Some of my favorite scents are Chloe, Chanel Chance, and Jo Malone in Peony & Blush Suede. All are scents that last quite a while on the skin, but are still beautiful, light scents that are versatile for everyday or special occasion use.

Beauty Masks

There’s something about anything advertised as a mask that gives me luxury spa day vibes. Whether it’s from hormones, aging, or washing so many dishes, for whatever reason after the start of motherhood, my skin has become so dry. That is why I love me a good face mask, lip mask, or hand mask! Moms are so busy taking care of everyone else in the family that sometimes they forget to take care of themselves. Getting some sort of moisturizing mask for your mom will remind her to set aside a few minutes for self-care. I love the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, but cheaper options that I still consider quite lovely are the lip masks, face masks, and hand masks from the Sephora Brand.

Neck Warmer Wrap

Being a mom is hard work, and with really little kids, it can be physically demanding as well. I’m not sure if it is the fact that I’m aging or if keeping up with my kids is just physically demanding, but my neck has never felt so stiff. Having an aromatherapy neck warmer is such a good way to sooth sore and tight muscles on the go. It is something easy to heat up and just wrap around your neck for instant relief. Etsy has some handmade, classic designed neck warmers that are perfect for Mother’s Day!

New House Slippers

New, good quality house slippers to replace your worn out ones are a practical Mother’s Day gift. When you’re on your feet most of the day tending to your family and doing chores, it’s nice to be able to wear good quality house slippers that are cushiony, yet offer some arch support, and have a non-slip sole. If you’re looking for a good pair, I’ve had Tempur-Pedic house slippers for years now, so I can say they are both comfortable and sturdy.

Personalized Mugs or Thermos

I’m a sucker for personalized things. I especially love the kind that have pictures. Mother’s Day is a perfect time to order a personalized mug or thermos for your mom that has a picture of the kids, or better, her and her kids! We’ve ordered personalized gifts from Shutterfly for various reasons in the past and have never been disappointed.

Personalized Jewelry

Last year, my husband got me a personalized photo necklace with a picture of my children from Mint & Lily. It was a dainty piece that didn’t scream locket, so it was easy to pair with any outfit. Instead, if you look into the small pendant against the light, it was a looking glass that revealed a picture of my kids. It serves as a sweet reminder of my purpose and there is rarely a day that I don’t want to wear it. If you want to get a Mother’s Day gift for your significant other that will bring her to tears, this might be it!

Hobby Supplies

It’s important for moms to find themselves again after motherhood. She can do that by revisiting or starting new hobbies. And you can help nurture her growth in her hobby by getting her some supplies for activities that she loves. I absolutely love to cook and bake. Any sort of kitchen gadget, big or small, is such a thoughtful gift in my eyes. You can get something that is just innovative, like this clip on strainer, or something that can replace things that are universally used, but wear out easily, like kitchen towels, a cute apron, or a new set of wooden utensils.

Getting supplies for a hobby is very personalized and shows that you’ve given a lot of thought to what you’ve chosen to give your mom. If she has a green thumb, you can always surprise her with new gardening gloves. Or if she’s like me, and loves to play the piano, you can opt to get her some new sheet music with some of her favorite songs. And the list goes on and on!

A Break from Cooking

Sometimes the ultimate gift is the gift of a break from cooking. Cooking is much like laundry, they are the chores that never end. You can give mom a break by going out to eat, giving her a door dash gift card, a gift card to her favorite restaurant to eat out on a different day, or even just cook a meal for her on Mother’s Day. Whichever you choose to do, I’m sure it will be much appreciated.

Spending Time Together

Nothing beats time spent together. This is especially something that might begin to seem more important as you and your kids all start to get older. Time is something that can’t be bought, but it is so valuable. You don’t need to do anything fancy (or you can if you want). Sometimes just watching a movie together at home or doing an activity you like, such as arts and crafts or baking, would be fun and give you a chance to chat about life. Sometimes what is considered “mundane” times, are actually some of the most memorable!

And that’s the end of my Mother’s Day wishlist! Hopefully this list provided you with some ideas that will make your mom feel seen and special this Mother’s Day and future Mother’s Days to come! However you choose to celebrate your mom on Mother’s Day, I’m sure she will absolutely love sharing it with you in any way, shape, or form!
